Castle Hills Village Shops continues to evolve as a dining destination offering culinary variety and local flavor with the latest addition of TKO Libations, a local craft brewery. Since October, the brewery, located in Phase 3 of the Village Shops, has opened to the Castle Hills community with limited hours as they ramp up to full production of seasonal craft beers.
The 2,810-square-foot brewery soft opened the weekend of October 28 to large crowds that flocked to the adjacent Plaza for Castle Hills annual Fall Festival. The Castle Hills community has been very welcoming! said Ty Sefton, co-owner. Neighbors often tell us they are glad we are here, and people from outside the community appreciate the uniqueness of the location which affords convenient parking, patio seating, a view of the lake and a splash pad across the street for kids.
The craft brewery complements other eateries in Village Shops, which offer Chinese, Italian, Japanese, and Tex-mex cuisines, as guests are welcome to bring food into the brewery for consumption. We want our customers to stay and drink our beer while enjoying a bite from one of the many restaurants, added Sefton. Brewery customers bring in pizza from PI.E 3.14, which is just a few doors down, and Salty Cow, a specialty cheese and provisions shop, has created a special beer and cheese pairing menu, he stated. The possibility to partner with all the restaurants in the Shops is very exciting for us.
With an anticipated Grand Opening event in January, the brewery continues to welcome neighbors and those from outside the community checking out what the brewery has to offer. Recent menu offerings have included TKOs Gingerbread Monster, a seasonal gingerbread porter, which won 1st place in the 2016 Brew Riot Homebrew Overall Specialty Group, and its Breakfast Stout at Tiffanys, a stout brewed with an imperial oatmeal base, locally sourced cold brewed coffee, cocoa and fresh strawberries. In addition to the brewerys own bold, all-natural ales and lagers, it is also offering beer and wine from select local breweries and wineries.
The Village Shops has attracted several unique restaurants and shops that are popular with residents and foodies from outside the area, said Lucas Patterson, Bright Realty executive vice president. The brewery is another draw to this popular neighborhood setting that also includes a sushi restaurant, a taco place, a coffee and pastry café, a yogurt shop and more. The Village Shops also offers conveniences such as a hair salon; nail salon; dental, chiropractic and orthodontic offices; a convenience store and more. Developer Bright Realty also sponsors regular community events in the outdoor plaza such as the annual July 4th Freedom Festival and fireworks show, the Fall Festival and Holiday in the Plaza, drawing thousands to the location which currently has approximately 4,000 single family homes.
